Training and Development Opportunities
What kind of organisation...
invests over £85 million in your training and development?
The MOD is a modern and forward-thinking organisation that is increasingly being used as a model by other countries. But we never take our success for granted. On the contrary, we are continually exploring ways to improve our performance, our processes and - above all - our people.
That's why we invest so heavily in your ongoing training and development.
Quite simply, we aim to give you all the training and skills you need to fulfil your potential. That means more than helping you meet the requirements of your current job: it also means supporting your ongoing development, encouraging you to achieve ever greater standards of professionalism, and giving you the opportunity to acquire professional and vocational qualifications.
In addition to conventional training and accreditation programmes, you can take advantage of innovative distance learning packages, more widespread language training and a variety of interactive learning facilities designed to build on your existing skills. You could also receive financial assistance and time off for relevant external training and Adult Further Education courses.
You will be given the opportunity to gain experience across the whole range of activities and the flexibility to move into new roles and even switch careers altogether as the MOD evolves to meet new demands and priorities.
You could join the growing number of MOD staff who are participating in secondment programmes within industry. There may also be opportunities to work in another government department and other areas of the MOD both in the UK and abroad.
We recognise talent and provide more rapid development opportunities for the most talented. You certainly won't be a passive recipient of training. You will actively participate in identifying your own development needs, working closely with us to define the career path that meets your personal ambitions as well as the changing realities of the MOD.
The MOD provides high quality, continuous training throughout your career. We support individuals of all ages to undertake professional and vocational qualifications. We have an in-house National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) programme and there is a wide choice of training providers available to support staff wishing to pursue professional and advanced educational qualifications.
The MOD and its Agencies are committed to a policy of equal opportunities for all staff and applicants for appointment. Discrimination is not tolerated in any form. This applies in recruitment, training, staff appraisal, promotion and all other activities.
