Successful Candidates
Opportunities for further progression and development are widely available within MOD.Your time on the TAD Scheme will be spent on a series of planned work placements across the organisation - mostly in the Bristol, Bath or Corsham areas, but please be aware that you may be selected to take up a placement in a more remote site (e.g.Wyton, Andover, Wyton) if it fits your development requirements or helps to meet a business need.
You will also be required to undertake visits to other areas of MOD to provide you with wider knowledge of the Department.
As a trainee, we will support you to undertake formal accountancy training to achieve membership of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) within 4 years. When you graduate from the scheme you will have the opportunity to be re-graded and move into a middle management role.
When you take up your first substantive appointment as a Band C2, your new Line Manager will then take over and ensure that your future training plans are custom-built for you as an individual. Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety and security training are some of the mandatory courses for all MOD staff. Everyone needs to be IT-literate, and will be trained to use the MOD IT systems. Other training opportunities will be discussed and agreed with your Placement Manager and written into your Scheme Learning and Development Plan.
All MOD employees are assessed annually by their line managers against their completion of pre-set targets and objectives. At this time competence gaps are identified, suitable training recommended, and future career aspirations explored.
For the really talented individuals, we have accelerated development schemes that they can apply for once employed by the MOD. Membership is limited and not automatic.
Later in your career, you may have the opportunity to consider secondment to other Government Departments, to join the 'Princes Trust' or other self-developmental schemes, or even to travel or take up post overseas.
