Stage Two

Should you be successful at the sifting procedure you will be invited to attend one of the one-day Assessment Centres.  These will take place during June 2008 in the Bath or Bristol area.

The Assessment Centre has two main functions:

  • It provides us with opportunities to observe you in realistic situations and gather evidence of your competence in dealing with those situations.  The scenarios we use will be similar to those you might have to deal with if you worked with the MOD.
  • It provides you with experience of the types of issues you may have to deal with or the situations in which you may find yourself when working for the MOD.

The Assessment Centre reflects situations you could come across in your first year.  Whilst it is true that you would not meet all the scenarios in one day, we have compressed a number of realistic problems to a tight time frame to help us make a decision about your skills and competences.

It will be a busy day but we are not trying to catch you out or expecting the impossible from you.  You can expect to face a number of tasks which you will have to deal with on your own.

If selected to attend the Assessment Centre, you will be sent an invitation pack with your allocated date of attendance, further information on the assessment centre process, information on the competences being tested, information on the timetable and a number of forms that you will be required to complete in advance of attending the Assessment Centre for security clearance.  You will be able to claim back expenses from attending the Assessment Centre and details on how to do this will be given to you at the Assessment Centre.
