The Development Scheme

The Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) organisation within the MOD is looking to recruit high calibre graduates who have the potential to be our future leaders.  If you are selected to join the Trainee Accountant Development Scheme you will be expected to undertake considerable study and sit demanding examinations to attain a recognised CCAB qualification.

Successful candidates will join as a Band D Graduate Trainee. The Scheme emphasises both business and personal skills and you will be assigned a senior mentor to provide guidance and support.  Your mentor will be a qualified accountant leading a finance team in one of our Integrated Project Teams (IPTs).  During the Scheme, you will work in a variety of placements across the DE&S organisation - these may be in the Bath, Bristol or Corsham areas, or other locations such as London, High Wycombe, Portsmouth or Devonport.

In these posts you will have every opportunity to develop a wide-ranging career in a large organisation.  Our aim is to give you a first class training package, including a recognised CCAB qualification, to develop your leadership, management and business skills. You will be involved in high profile, high tech defence projects that will allow you to quickly progress towards becoming our senior managers of the future.  You will use your business acumen and professional skills to ensure that high standards are applied consistently to financial reporting and governance.

The type of person we are looking for will:
