The Development Scheme

The Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) organisation within the MOD is looking to recruit high calibre graduates who have the potential to be our future leaders.  If you are selected to join the Trainee Accountant Development Scheme you will be expected to undertake considerable study and sit demanding examinations to attain a recognised CCAB qualification.

TADS is an accelerated learning and development scheme, emphasising the acquisition and advancement of management, business and leadership skills. Successful candidates will join as a Band D Graduate Trainee.  During the Scheme, you will undertake a series of planned work placements across the DE&S organisation - although many of the placements are in Bristol, Bath or Corsham, please note that you may sometimes be matched to a placement in a more remote location, such as Wyton, Andover or Yeovilton.  You will be assigned an experienced member of staff to act as your mentor and provide you with guidance and support.

In these posts you will have every opportunity to develop a wide-ranging career in a large organisation.  Our aim is to give you a first class training package, including a recognised CCAB qualification, to develop your leadership, management and business skills. You will be involved in high profile, high tech defence projects that will allow you to quickly progress towards becoming our senior managers of the future.  You will use your business acumen and professional skills to ensure that high standards are applied consistently to financial reporting and governance.

The type of person we are looking for will:

  • Rapidly build relationships with individuals at all levels
  • Adapt to different people
  • Put their own views across assertively
  • Prioritise and manage their own time
  • Be responsible and self sufficient

  • Demonstrate sound leadership skills and an ability to coach others
  • Show good judgement, and have the ability to take a calculated risk
  • Have a proactive 'can do' attitude
