About DE&S

The MOD is one of the largest spending Departments in Government.  More than half of its budget is for the acquisition of defence capability. £15bn a year is spent by the 26,000 people who work in DE&S to buy and maintain equipment for the Armed Forces.  The DE&S organisation is made up of Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) and Support Groups (SGs), which have total responsibility for procurement of military capability and its support.
